Benefits

Health Plan
Orbis offers a comprehensive health care package that includes medical, dental, orthodontia, vision, and LASIK insurance coverage to all eligible employees. The premiums for these insurance programs are 100% paid by the employer. Additionally, Orbis offers a pre-tax Health Savings Account (HSA) program as part of its health care package options, with an employer contribution of $100 / month to the employee's HSA. Employees can enroll themselves and their eligible dependents (spouse, domestic partner, unmarried children under 19, etc.) for health care benefits.

Other Insurance Benefits
Orbis offers group Life, Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D), and Short- and Long-Term Disability insurance plans to all eligible employees. The premiums for these insurance plans are 100% paid by the employer.

401k
Orbis offers the most competitive 401k in the industry. All employees are eligible to contribute to a variety of investment funds that best match their individual needs. Orbis will match employee investments up to four percent of the employee's salary. Employees are immediately fully vested on both their contributions and the Orbis contributions made on the employee's behalf.

Vacation
In addition to Federal holidays, employees are offered three weeks of vacation time per year. Additional vacation may be awarded as part of special employee retention or incentive programs.

Open Positions

Sr. NLP Software Developer:

This position will support the development of Natural Language Processing (NLP) based solutions in large scale computing environments. The work involves evaluation, development and testing of NLP algorithms, tools and approaches for their implementation.

Required qualifications:

  • A bachelor of science in computer science or equivalent
  • Strong experience developing and implementing NLP algorithms and systems
  • 7 + years experience developing Web Services, Service-Based Software System design and XML technologies (XSL, XQuery, XPath, etc.)
  • Proficiency in both Windows and Linux
  • U.S. citizenship and willingness to obtain a DoD security clearance

Preferred qualifications:

  • An advanced degree
  • Experience developing and implementing NLP algorithms and analytics in a cloud environment.
  • Exposure to Oracle 10g/11g (or other RDBMS), HTML, CSS, Javascript libraries and frameworks, J2EE, JSP, Struts, JSF, and JSON

Knowledge Engineer/Software Developer:

This position will assume responsibility for managing the knowledgebases associated with various commercial text analytics products. The work involves identifying improvements, creation and updates to the knowledgebases, development and testing. The successful candidate will be responsible for configuring Entity Extraction tools (Attensity, Aerotext, netOWL, Thingfinder, etc.).

Semantic Software Developer/Systems Engineer:

This position will support the development of semantic based solutions for commercial clients in the Central and North Florida areas primarily as well as the Southeast region; however, some travel to other customers in the United States may be required. This position requires working with customers to understand customer issues and leveraging a small team to determine the right semantic solution. The candidate should possess leadership and project management skills to report the status of the project to the customer and to company management.

The position will integrate commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software with developed web services to create custom solutions for our clients, and will manage the customer expectations and perceptions of the solution, while notifying company management of the progress including issues that jeopardize the successful and timely completion of the project. The ideal candidate will have exposure working with vendors to successfully customize COTS software.

Required qualifications:

  • Strong experience developing and implementing information technology solutions; experience developing and implementing semantic based solutions is preferred
  • 3 - 5 years experience developing Web Services, programming with object oriented and/or declarative languages and working with XML technologies (XSL, XQuery, XPath, etc.)
  • 1 - 2 years exposure to semantic technologies, Semantic Web (Web 3.0) concepts and technologies; strong working knowledge of Resource Description Framework (RDF), Web Ontology Language (OWL), and/or similar standards
  • 2 - 3 years experience developing web-based solutions using HTML, CSS, Javascript (including libraries and frameworks like YUI), J2EE, JSP, Struts, JSF, and JSON
  • Exposure to Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) such as Oracle 11g, Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL
  • Proficiency in Windows, Linux and Unix

  • A working knowledge of configuration management tools (Subversion, Trac)
  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent
  • U.S. citizenship and willingness to obtain a DoD security clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building mobile applications
  • Software test experience
  • Proficiency in Windows, Linux, and Unix
